Time marches on in the Vineyard. At this time of year the grapes start to change color from the young green grapes to the mature colors of that particular varietal.
The winemaker then can estimate the harvest date of those grapes.
This is an important time in the vineyard and has long been celebrated in wine history. Take for instance the Fête de la Véraison, a medieval festival held in the famous winemaking village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
