I just had to share this twisted piece of logic that Don Jones from Forest Grove uses to justify the big lie:
"Forest Grove: Where Oregon pinot was born"
“He (Richard Sommer) was the first to plant and he should get credit for that. That’s exciting and cool,” Jones said."
And how are we to credit Richard as Jones has stolen the true title away.?
"But the idea of “Oregon pinot” as a must-try wine was established by the success of Lett’s Eyrie vineyard, which drew from Charles Coury’s research at the University of California Davis, where Sommer also went to school."
Whew. That's the long road to get to the facts. Maybe we should include MaMa Coury for having a baby, and his Dad for having the idea!
"Jones said the slogan can be compared to Beaverton’s new bragging tagline, unveiled in December to a few bruised egos from around the state.
“Certainly this is no more a play on words than ‘Beaverton: The best of Oregon,’” Jones said."Really? So to Jones an opinion (the best of Oregon) is the same as a fact (where Oregon pinot was born).
At least he admits to "playing" with the words. Hope he is having fun playing while the rest of us rely on facts!
