Vote for Small Wineries=DeFazio

vote The Umpqua Valley AVA is unique in more ways than one.  Most all wineries here would be classified as  “boutique”, meaning 5000 cases or less of wine produced.  Most all of their sales come from direct-to-consumer sales.  This includes their wine clubs that ship wine to nearly every state in the Union.

There lurks enemies of the small winery within our political candidates and backed by the Oregon Beverage PAC.  Make no mistake these people want to take away the rights of the small time wineries and give them to the huge wine distributors.  This move would effectively shut down most of our local wineries.

If you think I am being a little paranoid about this you need only read the latest news on H.R. 5034.  DeFazio testified before the committee this last Wed. (Sept 29th) with these words:

“H.R. 5034, the CARE Act, …  would demolish the constitutional balance and the federal oversight over alcohol regulation. The CARE Act would virtually eliminate the role of the federal courts in stopping states from enacting discriminatory laws, violating antitrust laws, and even undermining acts of Congress.”

In the 2008 election Bruce Hanna received $15,200 from the Oregon Beverage PAC.  Their admitted goal is "that the wine and beer distributors are particularly adamant that the Democrats should not have a supermajority.”  From Oregonlive.com
